2024 saw the events industry faced with rising costs and tight budgets. In just a few short years, this fast-paced and ever-evolving field will see even more challenges as event attendees rapidly shift their expectations; they crave unique experiences, interactive sessions and more meaningful exchanges at events.

Fortunately, 2025 already promises tech-powered innovation that will help event organisers craft unforgettable experiences for their visitors.

We’ve put together a handy list of five event trends you need to know for your event strategy to elevate your game.

1. Experiential learning drives audience engagement

Attendees are no longer satisfied with mere passive participation. In 2025, they will be drawn to immersive experiences and sensory stimulation that connect the brand with their audience emotionally.

As 91% of customers would feel more optimistic about a brand after actively participating in an activation experience, event planners will need to be even more strategic with their venue selection and content creation. You will have to design sessions that encourage hands-on activities, workshops, gamification or interactive installations to capture the attention of the visitors and make it irresistible for them.

Experiential events come in many forms: think innovation summit, a product launch or an interactive workshop. Take Lululemon’s Sweat Life Festival, for example, where visitors get a full day of yoga classes and workout sessions, or Melbourne Metro’s immersive cabin experience where children get to drive a train.

It’s about making your event attendees your co-creators of the experience. By making events more experiential and less theoretical, organisers can create truly memorable experiences that stay with the audience even after the show.

2. Sustainability is a growing priority

Environmental risks continue dominating the long-term outlook and remain one of the most pressing concerns in 2025, according to the World Economic Forum. A Skift report shows that 57% of event professionals rank sustainability as a top priority for future events.

Organisers are expected to adopt eco-friendly practices that minimise waste and promote responsible resource use. This includes implementing zero-waste initiatives, utilising biodegradable materials, and opting for digital solutions to reduce paper usage.

With regards to venue selection, reducing carbon footprints must also be a main focus for event organisers. As remarked by the General Manager of 15Hatfields: “As the business meetings and events industry strives to meet its net zero commitments, a huge focus for venues must be placed next year on prioritising and advancing with their carbon reduction initiatives.”

Here at Lüp, we’ve consciously embraced this shift by reducing our air travel emissions by 44% over the past three years and cutting road transport emissions by 16%. We also prioritise logistics efficiency by using apps to reduce hardware needs and storing equipment at venues, achieving over 40% reduction in logistics emissions.

Additionally, Lüp has transitioned to power-efficient Apple devices, digital inductions, eBadges, and low-carbon shipping methods to further minimise our environmental impact. Besides the fact that these initiatives align with Lüp’s own internal beliefs and goals, we’re also doing this to make it easier for event organisers to adopt sustainable practices via our efforts.

3. Data privacy remains a huge concern

With the increasing reliance on technology in event planning and execution, data privacy will be a growing priority in 2025.

Event organisers, exhibitors and attendees alike expect transparency regarding how their personal information is collected, used, and protected. This means event organisers and their partners must implement robust data protection measures and communicate these practices clearly to participants.

To ensure compliance, event planners should use secure platforms for registration and networking while adhering to privacy regulations such as the Privacy Act 1988, the Privacy Act 2020 or GDPR.

As a business that handles a humongous database, we at Lüp take data security extremely seriously. We engage with certified external cybersecurity specialists for penetration testing, code analysis, and security consultancy. Our information security policies are reviewed annually, and we enforce the principle of least access, ensuring flexible yet secure access permissions for users. Staff handling personally identifiable information (PII) undergo police checks and employees receive regular cybersecurity training. By integrating these measures, we give our customers peace of mind ensuring a secure and transparent data environment.

4. AI is here to stay

You’ve probably heard this over and over again for the past couple of years, but we have to stress this again: AI is set to revolutionise how the world works, and the event industry is no exception.

According to the latest ICE Benchmarking survey, 41% of event planners are already incorporating AI into cnotent creation, logistics, and data analytics. Additionally, Amex GBT’s 2025 Global Meetings & Events Forecast highlights AI as the top technology that meeting professionals intend to adopt.

Powerful generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude among others have proved themselves helpful assistance to event organisers in the past years. 2025 will see even more event planners adopting AI in their work.

AI-driven tools will streamline various planning processes, from registration to content delivery. For instance, AI and automation can:

  • analyse your event performance
  • conduct sentiment analysis
  • manage logistics more efficiently, allowing them to focus on strategic elements of event design.

Embracing AI technology will not only improve your event’s operational efficiency but also enhance attendee engagement through customised interactions.

5. Personalisation is still king

On the topic of customisation and personalisation, we believe they will set great events apart from good events.

Think about TikTok, YouTube or Netflix and how good they are with their algorithm and recommendations, to the point that their customers wonder if these platforms can hear their thoughts. In a somewhat similar way, event organisers are considering ways to offer attendees more personalised experiences.

You will need to leverage a combination of data analytics and AI tools to create things like customised agendas, networking recommendations, and personalised event summaries based on individual interests during the event. Pre- and post-show communication will also need to be customised through emails, text messages and website content.

6. Integrated event solutions are redefining efficiency

Experienced event organisers are moving far away from outdated event systems and the pain of juggling multiple disconnected tools and providers. These days it’s all about seeking an integrated, frictionless event management provider that helps you successfully deliver your event from A to Z and beyond.

While there may be plenty of options out there, make sure you’re asking the right questions from the start.

  1. What features does the provider or platform offer, and does it cover the entire event lifecycle from planning and registration to post-event marketing?
  2. What level of onboarding, training and support is provided, and will there be event-day assistance?
  3. Does the provider or platform support various registration types, such as group registrations, tiered ticketing, or corporate ticketing?
  4. How detailed is the post-event reporting, is there enough to learn for future events, and what can you export from the platform?
  5. Are all essential tools included in the base pricing, or are there additional costs for advanced features like analytics, ticketing, or mobile apps? Are there also additional costs for attendees?

When surveying 519 top events and meeting professionals around the world, American Express found that 74% of respondents feel optimistic about the year ahead, and we feel the same way. 2025 will be a year of utilising technology to strengthen existing bonds and build new relationships. The future of events is looking bright and we are excited to be with you on this journey.
